Dickey Broadcasting Company Sports “1230/106.3 The Fan 2” WFOM/W292EV Marietta GA has rebranded as “The Sports X“.
The move comes as WFOM increases its local talk output with the addition of ‘Hometeam’ Brandon Leak and former Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton from 9am-12pm and former “92.9 The Game” WZGC night host Mark Zinno for 2-5pm. Southern Sports Today’s regionally syndicated Chuck Oliver Show airs from 12-2pm and ESPN Radio programming runs in other dayparts.
The Sports X is one of three Sports stations in Atlanta owned by Dickey Broadcasting Company along with “680/93.7 The Fan” WCNN North Atlanta and “1340/103.7 The Fan 3” WIFN/W279CZ Atlanta.
INSTANT INSIGHT: While Dickey Broadcasting filed for a number of federal trademarks for the “Sports X” brand in late December, it will be interesting if company head David Dickey considered that his brother Lew’s former company is utilizing the “X” moniker in Atlanta on Alternative “99X” 98.9 W255CJ/WWWQ-HD3. Also the logo on the station’s Facebook page used here incorrectly identifies the station as being on 106.7 and not 106.3.
