Despite being promoted to originally take place in March, JVC Media’s 104.9 WYGC High Springs/Gainesville FL finally made its flip to 1980s Hits “Y105” at 12pm today.
WYGC takes the format and staff that had been heard on Radio Gainesville’s 103.3 WGVR-LP as “Sunny Radio 103.3“, “Hit Radio 103.3“, and “Z103.3” over the past year. The LPFM is now Oldies “Oldies 103.3“.

WYGC, which quietly dropping its “Talk of Gainesville” format late last year to simulcast sister Hot AC “Q92.9” WMFQ Ocala, will assume the format currently heard on Radio Gainesville’s “Z103.3” WGVR-LP as “Y105“. WGVR-LP will then flip to Oldies utilizing Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel.
Lash, who has supplied programming to many LPFMs including WGVR-LP and Florida Educational Broadcasting’s Christian CHR “Next-FM” 105.7 WERF-LP Gainesville, is also planning to purchase Silent 1330 WSPQ Springville NY and relaunch it as Oldies “13Q” with True Oldies Channel programming.

Veteran radio owner and programmer Chris Lash is making more moves: In Gainesville, FL his All 80’s format moves from LPFM 103.3 WGVR-LP to full power 104.9 WYGC on Monday, March 19th. On 103.3 Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel will debut in the market.
In addition Lash has purchased and saved now dark, 1330 WSPQ in Springville, Buffalo, NY, and will again partner with Shannon, as True Oldies 13Q. An FM translator will debut later this year on 100.7.
Lash, who started in radio in Union City, PA, 23 miles south of Erie, has also secured the FM in his hometown, as WFSN also comes under his umbrella.
