After first taking Jaime Allman off the air indefinitely today, Entercom has parted ways with the morning host of “FM NewsTalk 97.1” KFTK-FM Florissant/St. Louis MO.
Entercom VP/Corporate Communications Esther Mireya-Tejeda told Buzzfeed that “After looking into the matter we have decided that Allman will no longer be a member of KFTK-FM and his show has been canceled, effective immediately. We have parted ways.” We have confirmed with Ms. Mireya-Tejeda that Allman has been terminated from the company.
Original Report 4/10: As Entercom deals with the fall-out created by a tweet by yet-to-debut “97.3 The Machine” KEGY San Diego morning host Kevin Klein, another social media induced issue has taken “FM NewsTalk 97.1” KFTK-FM Florissant/St. Louis MO morning host Jaime Allman off the air.
In late March, Allman tweeted that “I’ve been getting ready to ram a hot poker up David Hogg’s ass” directed at the Parkland High School shooting survivor who has become one of the biggest advocates of gun control legislation. The subsequent advertiser backlash has led to Sinclair Broadcasting to cancel Allman’s weekly television show on KDNL St. Louis and accept his resignation from the station. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Allman has been taken off the air at KFTK with the Associated Press adding that he is suspended while the company “looks into the matter.”
Entercom is in the process of acquiring KFTK-FM and CHR “Now 96.3” KNOU St. Louis from Emmis as it currently operates the stations via LMA.
