FCC Report 9/16: Pair Of Virginia AMs Turn In Their Licenses

After two attempts to divest the stations, Birach Broadcasting has turned in the licenses of 1450 WBVA Bayside and 1540 WVAB Virginia Beach VA. The two stations were designated for a license renewal hearing in January due to the limited amount of time the stations were on the air over the previous decade. From the time Birach closed on its purchase of the stations on April 1, 2008 through November 30, 2017, WBVA operated for a total of 66 days from a temporary facility with 30 watts while WVAB has been on for 357 days during that same period with a 6 watt STA. Birach filed to donate the stations in July to MMTC Broadcasting and then two weeks later to Dr. Katrina Chase’s Believe & Achieve Family & Education Center.

With a month left on its Construction Permit to build 106.1 KNXS Rocksprings TX, Radio Ranch has returned the permit to the FCC unbuilt.

iHeartMedia’s CP of 105.5 W288DT Mansfield OH to move to Dayton OH rebroadcasting 980 WONE has expired unbuilt.

After being silent for over a year and not responding to an FCC inquiry, 103.3 K277AP Morton TX has been deleted.
