Cox Media has flipped Classic Rock “95.3/101.1 The Eagle” WZLR Xenia/101.1 W266BG Dayton OH to Classic Hits.
The station has retained the Eagle moniker for its branding and is promoting itself as “the new station with the same name”. The change included a shift from 1980s Rock to a broader playlist that while positioned as “Dayton’s 80s Station”, the music branches from the 70s through 90s. The more pop intensives playlist includes Madonna, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Prince, and Lionel Richie as core artists.
WZLR held a 2.4 share in the Summer 2018 Nielsen Audio ratings. The move places the station in near direct competition with Aloha Station Trust’s “Big 106.5” WRZX.
