Summit Media flipped Classic Hits “Star 100.9” WJSR Lakeside/Richmond VA to Variety Hits “100.9 Jack-FM” at 6:00 this morning.
WJSR registered a 3.3 share in the Summer 2018 Nielsen Audio ratings up from a 2.2 two books prior in the Winter. That coincided with the sale and flip of Alpha Media’s 80s Hits 107.3 WBBT in February.
SummitMedia LLC has launched “100.9 JACK FM – Playing What We Want” on WJSR.
The Adult Variety Format will feature nearly 1000 different titles from four decades and multiple musical genres.
“100.9 JACK FM breaks all the traditional radio rules and really will play anything,” said SummitMedia Operations Manager Melissa Chase. “This station appeals to a diverse group of listeners who value musical variety and the surprise of what’s going to play next.”
The format began at 6am EST on SummitMedia’s WJSR FM.
“SummitMedia is exited to bring 100.9 JACK FM to Richmond,” said Richmond market President Bob Willoughby. “A station with this much variety is going to gain a great deal of attention and make a lot of listeners very happy.”
Would the last live jock in Richmond radio turn out the lights please? I have never seen a market lose so many radio stations to public radio, K-Love, and the jockless Jack Fm stations…. speaking of which it’s purely cheapness on Summit’s part to not have kept at least a live morning show. There are Jack’s and Bob’s and Steve’s that actually still have jocks.
