Cumulus News/Talk 790 KABC Los Angeles morning host Doug McIntyre has announced he will retire from the station as of Friday, December 14.
McIntyre began hosting KABC’s local overnight show Red Eye Radio in 2000 taking the show into syndication. He moved to mornings in October 2004 replacing the retiring Ken Minyard. In 2011 he briefly added a live hour-long afternoon show on 770 WABC New York.
McIntyre told listeners he intends to focus on long-form writing content. Prior to going into radio, McIntyre was a television writer for shows including Married With Children, The New WKRP In Cincinnati, Mr. Belvedere, and Full House. He was also an executive producer on Mike Hammer, Private Eye. McIntyre also serves as a columnist for the Los Angeles Daily News.
In his announcement, McIntyre stated that Cumulus will announce a new KABC morning host later this week, but that co-hosts LeeAnn Tweeden and Randy Wang will remain with the show.
