Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas Acquires Tyler/Longview Cluster

Paul Coates Mike Huckabee East Texas Educational KVNE Paul Coates and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee’s East Texas Results Media is selling its four FMs in the Tyler/Longview TX market to Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas for $800,000.

The stations included in the deal are Classic Country “Real Country 94.3” KZXM Bullard, CHR “Fun 95.3/102.3” 95.3 KFRO-FM Gilmer/102.3 KLJT Jacksonville, and Regional Mexican “Super 103.1” KMPA Pittsburg. Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas has already applied to convert all four to non-commercial status. The company already owns a pair of Christian AC stations in the market: 89.5 KVNE Tyler and 91.3 KGLY Tyler.

Coates & Huckabee acquired the four stations in May 2017 for $1.2 million. They were previously Silent after a sibling ownership dispute led to the entire staff being locked out and terminated in August 2016.

The sellers will retain Classic Hits 1580 KTLU/103.9 K280CL Rusk TX in the Tyler/Longview market and have a pending application to acquire Standards 1400 KEBE/104.7 K284CT Jacksonville from North Texas Radio Group. They also own clusters in Branson MO and Pine Bluff AR.

    And there will be no more FUN in Tyler. But there will be plenty of generic bird feed from Sacramento that is the same pablum as you can hear in Hartford or Chicago or Orlando. And people still wonder why the medium is dying a slow death.

      The buyer of this cluster is Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas NOT Education Media Foundation, the operators of K-Love.
