Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas Acquires Tyler/Longview Cluster
Paul Coates and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee’s East Texas Results Media is selling its four FMs in the Tyler/Longview TX market to Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas for $800,000.
The stations included in the deal are Classic Country “Real Country 94.3” KZXM Bullard, CHR “Fun 95.3/102.3” 95.3 KFRO-FM Gilmer/102.3 KLJT Jacksonville, and Regional Mexican “Super 103.1” KMPA Pittsburg. Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas has already applied to convert all four to non-commercial status. The company already owns a pair of Christian AC stations in the market: 89.5 KVNE Tyler and 91.3 KGLY Tyler.
Coates & Huckabee acquired the four stations in May 2017 for $1.2 million. They were previously Silent after a sibling ownership dispute led to the entire staff being locked out and terminated in August 2016.
The sellers will retain Classic Hits 1580 KTLU/103.9 K280CL Rusk TX in the Tyler/Longview market and have a pending application to acquire Standards 1400 KEBE/104.7 K284CT Jacksonville from North Texas Radio Group. They also own clusters in Branson MO and Pine Bluff AR.
