Positioned as “Pittsburgh’s Old School & Today’s R&B”, the station resurrects the “Beat” branding utilized on 104.7 WJJJ from 1999 through 2004 as both Jammin Oldies and then Urban AC. The Beat lists core artists as Michael Jackson, Prince, Usher, Bruno Mars, TLC, New Edition, Notorious B.I.G., 2-Pac, Destiny’s Child, Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, and Chris Brown and is launching with the usual 10,000 songs commercial-free.
The Urban “WAMO 100.1” format that had been on the stations remains on 100.1 W261AX Pittsburgh and Entercom’s 100.7 WBZZ-HD3.
