WNDE Indianapolis Loses 97.5 Simulcast; New Format To Debut

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
July 22, 2019

Fox Sports 97.5 1260 WNDE IndianapolisThe mix of Sports Talk surrounded by the Rush Limbaugh Show will no longer be heard on FM in Indianapolis as iHeartMedia has dropped the simulcast of “Fox Sports 1260” WNDE on 97.5 W248AW Indianapolis.

97.5 currently is running a redirect loop pointing the WNDE audience to the 1260 frequency. iHeartMedia Indianapolis SVP/Programming told the Indianapolis Star, “Very shortly a new format will be debuting on the 97.5 frequency. The only thing I can say at this point is stay tuned.”

WNDE added the FM signal in July 2015. The station carries Fox Sports Radio’s Clay Travis and Dan Patrick followed by Rush Limbaugh and then a local show hosted by Jake Query and Derek Schultz from 3-7pm with FSR in nights.

Rock hoping to offset any inroads from Cumulus X93.9? Or is that old school thinking?

The translator needs to be reassigned to a different station (FM HD subchannel), and I haven’t seen anything yet as to what they are now supposedly relaying. It can’t originate programming.

Okay, iHeartMedia sent a request to the FCC to nullify the four-year cross-service translator requirements for W248AW to relay WNDE, and switch the primary signal to a subchannel of WOLT-FM.
