MaineInvests LLC has completed its purchase of Oldies 1280 WJYE Gardiner ME from Bob Bittner’s Blue Jay Broadcasting Company and has relaunched the station as “Fun Oldies 1280“.
The new format, focusing on hits of the 1960s and 70s is being programmed on a consulting basis by Tom Lawler. Lawler, who currently works on-air for stations including Oldies WOLD Woodbridge NJ, WLNG Sag Harbor NY, and Country WRNS and Rock WXQR New Bern NC has made WJYE his first foray into customized remote programming and can be reached at Tom@BigTomLawler.com.
WJYE also holds a CP for an FM translator on 106.3 that has applied to increase its coverage.

Concurrent with the ownership change, the station announces it has debuted a new locally oriented Oldies format as FUN OLDIES 1280. Fun Oldies features all of the biggest hits of the 1960s and 70s with its 5,000 watt signal blanketing Central Maine.
The new format is being overseen by consulting programmer Tom Lawler. Lawler has contributed to stations up and down the east coast and has built a custom library of music for the Maine audience. Lawler states that he is ecstatic to bring this fun music back to Central Maine and to serve the listeners and advertisers of the region.
