As first hinted in our 7/31 Domain Insight, Redwood Empire Stereocasters will flip Soft AC “Smooth 93.7” KJZY Sebastopal/Santa Rosa CA to CHR “93.7 The Beat” on Monday, August 5.
Billed as “Sonoma County’s NEW Hit Music Station”, the new format takes direct aim at Amaturo Sonoma Media’s “Hot 101.7” KHTH. In the recently released Eastlan ratings for the Santa Rosa market, Redwood Empire Stereocasters AC 100.9 KZST led with a 9.5 share while KHTH was tied for second at a 6.5. KJZY’s current Soft AC format goes out with a 1.9 share.
The station is featuring Jamtraxx Media’s club mixed oriented SPiN-FM format making it the first affiliate for the programming since it aired on a part-time basis on 103.3 WOLT Greenville SC in 2012.
Tonight at Midnight JamTraxx Media.announced the immediate launch of the SPiN-FM format on KJZY-FM, “93.7 THE BEAT,” “Sonoma County’s NEW Hit Music Station!”
SPiN-FM is the brainchild of veteran Chicago programmer, Rob Austin.“In a day an age when formats are so cookie-cutter, it takes a true visionary of radio to execute ‘The SPiN-FM’ format on one’s own radio property and that first visionary is Gordon Zlot with, hopefully, many more to follow” said Rob Austin, CEO at JamTraxx Media.
At Redwood Empire Stereocasters, owner, Gordon Zlot, proclaimed “I am excited about launching a new innovative CHR format on one of our signals called ‘93.7 The Beat.’ Rob Austin of Jamtraxx Media is the mastermind of this concept and I don’t know of any other broadcaster who has attempted this club mix approach. We hope it will catch on with the 18-34 demo.”
