As first indicated in our 8/15 Domain Insight, Townsquare Media’s Fort Collins/Lafayette Divestiture Trust launched Rhythmic CHR “Power 102.9” KARS-FM Laramie WY/Fort Collins CO at midnight.
The new format replaces Classic Rock “Rock 102.9” on the signal that also covers Cheyenne and into the northern portions of the Denver area. The station is playing a mix of currents and gold with core artists listed as Drake, Post Malone, Eminem and Cardi B.
“Power 102.9” will continue to serve as the flagship for Colorado State University football and basketball and shares the green and gold in its logo with the school. KARS-FM held a 0.4 share in the Spring 2019 Nielsen Audio ratings. There is currently no Rhythmic CHR in the market, although both Denver Rhythmic CHR’s “Flo 107.1” KFCO Bennett and Entercom’s “KS 107.5” KQKS Lakewood are audible in parts of the Fort Collins market but do not target advertisers up there.
The new format helps flank Townsquare Hot AC “99.9 The Point” KKPL against iHeartMedia CHR “96.1 Kiss-FM” KSME, which currently ranks second in the market with a 4.7 share behind Townsquare’s “New Country 99.1” KUAD.
The flip marks the third change in the Townsquare Media Fort Collins cluster this year. Country “K99” KUAD rebranded as “New Country 99.1” in February and Classic Hits “Tri 102.5” KTRR followed suit as “Retro 102.5” in March.
