Chicken 101.3 Debuts In Delaware

Chicken 101.3 WCHK Dover Forever Media Cool 102.1 WNCLForever Media launched Country “Chicken 101.3” WCHK-FM Milford/Dover DE this morning.

Taking its name from the region being the home to many poultry farms, the station creates a direct format competitor to iHeartMedia’s 94.7 WDSD Dover. The on-air lineup will feature a Chickenized staff of ‘The Rooster’ in mornings, ‘Chickie’ in middays, and ‘The Kernal’ in afternoons.

Forever has also made on-air staff changes at its other stations in the region. Following the exits of morning host Tom Schultz and afternoon host Brendan ‘BK’ Kashuba a couple weeks ago, the remaining staffers of WNCL will slide down to Classic Hits “97.1 The Wave” WAVD Ocean Pines/Salisbury MD as Dana McDonald takes mornings and Steve Monz afternoons. They will be joined by newcomer Kait in middays. WNCL on its new 930/102.1 frequencies will take its entire programming feed from Westwood One.

Finally at CHR “Eagle 97.7” WAFL Milford, midday host Roman and afternoon host Gary John have swapped airshifts.

Update 10/31: Forever Media’s 101.3 WNCL Milford DE is currently stunting with a loop of The Chicken Dance and redirecting listeners to 930 WYUS/102.1 W271CX Milford, which will become the home of the Classic Rock “Cool” format on Friday, November 1.

The station is also promoting a new format to “hatch” at 5:30am on Friday. As reported below, Forever has applied for new WCHK-FM call letters for 101.3 as it is expected to flip to Country “Chicken 101.3“.

Original Report 10/21: Forever Media Classic Rock “Cool 101.3” WNCL Milford DE is promoting it will soon move to 930 WYUS/102.1 W271CX Milford.

The move will displace Sports “ESPN 930“. Forever has applied to move the WNCL call letters to WYUS and change 101.3 to WCHK-FM amidst expectations it will flip to Country. With the impending move WNCL has cut ties with midday host Paula Sangeleer and is now utilizing Westwood One voicetracker Maria Danza in the daypart.

97.1 The Wave” WAVD Ocean Pines/Salisbury MD has segued from its “Beach Music” mix back to Classic Hits, but has cut ties with its local airstaff. Morning host Tom Schultz and afternoon host Brendan ‘BK’ Kashuba have exited, while middayer Leah Rizzo will focus exclusively on her position as morning co-host at CHR “Eagle 97.7” WAFL Milford DE.
