Entercom News/Talk 98.1 KMBZ-FM and “Talk 980” KMBZ Kansas City has announced Will Sterrett will join Ellen Schenk as anchor of “Kansas City’s Morning News” from 5-10am starting January 2.
Sterrett will succeed E.J. Becker as co-anchor. Becker, will continue to be heard on the show as a special contributor. Sterrett previously served as afternoon news anchor at KMBZ in 2015-2016 and has also served as News Director of Cumulus Media’s 710 KCMO in the market. He’s also worked at Rocking M Radio Colby KS as Operations Manager and Corporate News Director and as an anchor/reporter for KRLD Dallas, KTRH Houston, WLW Cincinnati and CNN Radio. He will continue to serve as CEO of syndicator Rockcastle Media Networks, which he launched in May 2016.
KMBZ-FM also recently swapped midday co-hosts as Jon Grayson supplanted Mike Wickett across from Jayme Monacelli. Grayson is best known for his long run in overnights at News/Talk 1120 KMOX St. Louis, which was later syndicated as “Overnight America with Jon Grayson” and also hosted late mornings at 550 KTRS in that market. Wickett exited in November to join his wife Leigh McNabb in Des Moines. McNabb previously programmed Entercom Hot AC “99.7 The Point” KZPT Kansas City and recently joined Saga Communications Classic Hits 93.3 KIOA Des Moines.
Chris, Very kind AND no need to miss me. I'll be with you every morning on @KMBZradio with stories of people and places that make Kansas City our home! Looking forward to more time with Little E.J. too. @ellennewsgirl and @OnAirWill will be great. https://t.co/Uu6JPX6I5B
