Midwestern Broadcasting Company is adding a seventh station to its Traverse City MI holdings with the purchase of Rock 97.5 WKLT Kalkaska from Northern Broadcasting for $450,000.
WKLT will join Midwestern’s cluster of CHR “Z93” 92.9 WJZQ Cadillac, Country 103.5 WTCM-FM Traverse City/93.5 WBCM Boyne City, Classic Hits 107.5 WCCW-FM Traverse City, News/Talk 580 WCCM Traverse City, and Oldies “AM 13” 1310 WCCW Traverse City. The company also owns three stations in Alpena MI.
Not included in the sale is current WKLT simulcaster 98.9 WKLZ-FM Petoskey. The sale of WKLT follows Northern Broadcasting taking Sports “ESPN Northern Michigan” 105.5 WSRJ Honor/106.7 WSRT Gaylord MI silent due to ongoing financial issues and the impending sale of 94.3 WFCX Leland/Traverse City to Central Michigan University.
