After beginning the process of moving its “Wolf” Country format to 97.7 WCZX Hyde Park/Poughkeepsie NY at the start of the year, Townsquare Media has debuted a new format on 94.3 WKXP Kingston.
Following a brief wheel of formats stunt, WKXP debuted its new identity as Soft AC “94.3 Lite-FM” at noon today. The new format creates a competitor to iHeartMedia AC “Q92.1” WRNQ Poughkeepsie, which ranked second to Townsquare Media Classic Rock 101.5 WPDH in the Fall 2019 Nielsen Audio ratings.
WKXP is positioning as “Relaxing Favorites While You Work” matching Townsquare’s similarly formatted stations in Albany and Buffalo NY. The “Lite-FM” branding was previously used in the market by WRNQ from 2003-2014, before it returned to its former moniker.
