As first indicated in our exclusive Domain Insight report on Wednesday, Cumulus Media has rebranded Country “Nash-FM 103.3” WKDF Nashville as “103.3 Country“.
Now positioning as “New Country for All of Tennessee”, the rebranding follows multiple changes at the station including the addition of Paul Williams as Director of Programming for Westwood One Nashville and WKDF and this month’s launch of “Morning Koffy” to replace “The Ty Bentli Show” in mornings.
WKDF ranked eleventh in the March Nielsen Audio ratings with a 4.2 share, however that made it the lowest rated of the big three Country stations in the market trailing iHeartMedia’s “The Big 98” 97.9 WSIX’s third ranked 7.1 share and Cumulus’ “95.5 Nash Icon” WSM-FM’s seventh place 5.2 share.
Following the rebranding of WKDF, Cumulus still has fifteen “Nash-FM” branded current Country stations with the largest markets being Des Moines and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Some elements of the rebranding here remind me of what Cumulus recently did with Atlanta’s WKHX. If that was indeed deliberate, I wonder how much of a change will be made to the playlist (i.e., to presumably make it more Tennessee-centric).
