Longtime St. Louis personality Guy Phillips has announced that he will step down from hosting afternoons at CH Holdings Talk “Big 550” KTRS St. Louis at the end of this week.
Phillips has hosted afternoons at KTRS since February 2018, but is best known for his 38 years in mornings on the 98.1 frequency. Phillips had joined what was then CHR “Q98” KSLQ in March 1979, remained through the station’s flip to AC as “Y98” KYKY in 1982 and its eventual evolution to Hot AC until departing for KTRS in September 2017 and sitting out a non-compete.
Phillips told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “I’d say I thought about (retiring). I’m going to be 68 and I have a granddaughter now, our first. So it just seemed like the right time.” His final show will be Friday, June 19.
