The shakeup of the Burlington/Plattsburgh market continues as Great Eastern Radio agrees to acquire 107.1 WPLA Dannemora NY from Randy Michaels’ RadioActive LLC for an undisclosed amount leading to the second format change at the station in a month.
WPLA, which had flipped from Rock “107.1 Plattsburgh Rocks” to Classic Hits “Lake-FM” on Memorial Day under the management of Loud Media, has now returned to Rock simulcasting Great Eastern Radio’s “107.1 Frank-FM” WRFK Barre VT. New WWFK call letters are pending.
The move places 107.1 back into competition with Northeast Broadcasting’s “Rock 103.3” WWMP and Hall Classic Rock 106.7 WIZN.
Great Eastern began simulcasting its other Barre/Montpelier area station, Country “Froggy 100.9” WWFY Berlin in the Burlington market on the former Classic Hip Hop 104.3 WJKS Keeseville NY on June 15.
