After two weeks of stunting with Christmas Music, Delta Media flipped 1520 KFXZ/98.5 K253CO Lafayette LA to Conservative Talk “News Talk 98.5” on Wednesday.
The new format will also replace a simulcast of Classic Hits “The Rewind” 1330 KVOL/97.7 K249EY Lafayette on 104.1 KLCJ Oak Grove/Lake Charles.
The all-syndicated lineup features This Morning with Gordon Deal, Glenn Beck, Todd Schnitt, Markley Van Camp & Robbins, Joe Pags, Lars Larson, Jim Bohannon, and Ben Shapiro.
Delta Media Corporation announces the launch of its newest station, broadcasting in and serving Lafayette. KFXZ AM News Talk 98.5 launched Wednesday July 15, 2020. KFXZ will broadcast on its heritage 1520 AM frequency with the assist of an FM translator at 98.5 FM.
News Talk 98.5 will serve the Lafayette market with a 24/7 news talk format. Featuring shows from Glenn Beck, Joe Pags, Ben Shapiro, Lars Larson, Todd Schnitt, and many more. News Talk 98.5 will also simulcast on KLCJ 104.1 in Lake Charles as the only FM News Talk station in the market.
News Talk 98.5 is available online at www.newstalk985.com, in both the Apple iOS and Google Play app stores, Apple Car Play, Android Audio, and by asking Alexa to play the News Talk 985.

KFXZ/K253CO had been simulcasting Regional Mexican “El Sabor 87.7/105.3” 87.7 KXKW-LP Lafayette/105.3 KSLO-FM Simmesport. KXKW-LP/KSLO have rebranded as “Radio Lazer” utilizing they syndicated Regional Mexican brand owned by Lazer Broadcasting.
The station’s online stream features logos for the upcoming “News/Talk 98.5” branding. The station’s website is live and features what will be an all-syndicated lineup including This Morning with Gordon Deal, Glenn Beck, Todd Schnitt, Markley Van Camp & Robbins, Joe Pags, Lars Larson, Jim Bohannon, and Ben Shapiro.
The new Conservative Talk format will create a competitor to Townsquare Media’s duo of 96.5 KPEL-FM and “Talk Radio 960” KROF.
