Forever Media AC “Key 96.5” WKYE Johnstown PA morning host Jumpin’ Jack Michaels retired this morning ending a 49 year radio career mostly spent in his hometown.
Michaels began his radio career in 1971 and spent a decade at 1230 WCRO Johnstown before joining then 95.5 WKYE upon its launch in September 1983 as afternoon host. He would move to mornings in 1994 and follow the station to 96.5 in 2008.
The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reports that Michaels is stepping down due to health issues. He told the newspaper, “This day is bittersweet and I know I’ll be fighting back tears. To think when I started in 1971 and through all these years and here I am for the last time, it’s pretty emotional.”
Brian Wolfe, who serves as Music Director for Forever’s Johnstown cluster and hosts middays on Classic Hits “Cool 101.7” WCCL, will debut in mornings at WKYE on Tuesday.
