Beasley Media flipped Southern Gospel 102.7 WGUS-FM New Ellenton SC/Augusta GA to Soft AC “Sunny 102.7” this morning.
Positioned as “The Station That Makes You Feel Good”, the new format creates a competitor to iHeartMedia AC 104.3 WBBQ. The new format launched with local native James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” and is listing Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, Whitney Houston, Journey, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Lionel Richie, and Rod Stewart among core artists.
The Southern Gospel format dated to 2006. In the Spring 2020 Nielsen Audio ratings, WGUS-FM, which rimshots Augusta from the east registered a 1.5 share. New target WBBQ was second in the market with a 6.9 share.
Beasley Media Group has officially unveiled the new Sunny 102.7 on WGUS – FM in Augusta. The new format launched with “I Got You (I Feel Good)” by James Brown at midnight on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
The station will feature “Music That Makes you Feel Good”, including some of favorites such as: Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, Whitney Houston, Journey, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, and many more!
