Waterloo Media Hot AC “Star 93.3” KGSR Cedar Park/Austin TX has appointed Jay Michaels as Program Director.
The move marks a return to Austin as Michaels previously programmed the same station in the early 2000s when it flipped from Dance CHR “Mega 93.3” KXMG to Hip Hop “Hot 93.3” KDHT. He has also served as Music Director at 96.7 KHFI in the market. Michaels joins KGSR from NRG Media where he has programmed Hot AC “Sweet 98.5” KQKQ and Rhythmic CHR “Power 106.9” KOPW Omaha since October 2019. Michaels resume includes programming CBS Radio’s “100.3 Jack-FM” KJKK and “Amp 103.7” KVIL and iHeartMedia’s “102.1 The Edge” KDGE and “102.9 Now” KDMX Dallas and spending six years as Operations Manager for Waterloo parent Sinclair Communications in Norfolk.
KGSR moved from Soft AC to Hot AC on Valentine’s Day this year. Michaels takes the programming duties of the station from Krash Kelly, who continues to program Variety Hits “103.5 Bob-FM” KBPA.
