iHeartMedia News/Talk 1040 WHO Des Moines morning host Van Harden announced on-air this morning that he will retire from radio on January 8, 2021.
Harden has been a staple in Des Moines radio since 1975 and has anchored mornings on WHO since 1986. The January 8 date is the 50th anniversary of the start of his radio career at KDLS Perry IA in 1971. He also worked at KWEN Tulsa and KRNT Des Moines before joining WHO, where he would also spend time as Program Director. Harden previously co-owned 98.9 KLSN Jefferson IA in the 1990s.
Longtime co-host Bonnie Lucas retired from WHO in March.
