After sixteen years as a CHR, Flinn Broadcasting has flipped “Q107.5” WHBQ-FM Germantown/Memphis TN to Classic Hits.
Currently running jockless, the new “107.5 WHBQ” has swapped positioning from “All The Hits” to “All The Classic Hits”. Flinn previously ran an 80s Hits format on 96.3 W242CS Memphis/WHBQ-HD2 as “Z96.3” from August 2019 until flipping it back to Alternative in January.
The new Classic Hits format will compete with North Mississippi Media Group’s “Guess-FM” 1430 WOWW Germantown/97.7 W249BN Memphis/100.1 W261CS Southaven MS. The new format emphasizes the heritage of the WHBQ call letters in the market with co-owned 560 WHBQ being one of the first Top 40 stations in the country and where Elvis Presley got his first airplay.
The flip leaves iHeartMedia’s “101.9 Kiss-FM” KWNW Crawfordsville AR as the only Mainstream CHR in the Memphis market.
