Call Communications Christian CHR “Call Radio” announced its intent in May 2019 to phase out its FM signals and move to digital operation. Nearly 18 months later the group has sold its flagship 91.9 WMKL Hammocks/Miami FL to Radio Maria Inc. for $1,050,000. The Catholic operator owns ten stations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Earlier this week we reported that Smash Hit Media flipped Classic Rock 98.3 WEXG Farmer City IL to a simulcast of WPEO Radio Foundation’s Christian Preaching “The Word” 1020 WPEO Peoria. Now we know why as Smash Hit has sold the station for $159,900. Now under the WPEO-FM call letters, a Time Brokerage Agreement to manage the station took effect on October 1.
Desert Mountain Broadcasting, which owns six stations in the Billings market, is expanding to Bozeman MT with the purchase of 1490 KYWL and the CP for 104.1 K281CX Bozeman from Chaparral Broadcasting for $50,000.
Wallace Christensen sells Oldies 98.7 KISD Pipestone MN, Christian AC “KD Radio” 99.3 K257FP Pipestone/KJOE-HD3, Country 106.1 KJOE Slayton and Farm/Country “Blazin Country” 1050 KLOH/94.1 K231DG Pipestone to Christensen Broadcasting, led by sons Collin and Carmen Christensen, as a part gift and the rest the assumption of a loan worth approximately $135,000.
Western Michigan University has exercised its option to purchase 89.9 WKDS Kalamazoo MI from Kalamazoo Public Schools for $191,000. WMU’s Public News/Talk 102.1 WMUK Kalamazoo began operating WKDS in January and flipped it to Classical.
Robert Goodrich and Sue Howard are transferring Liberal Talk/Freeform “Public Reality Radio” 90.1 WPRR-FM Clyde Township MI to Tyrone Bynum for no consideration.
Scott Schroeder’s Miracle Radio will acquire 1450 WBSR/101.1 W266AL Pensacola FL from Easy Media for $75,000. Miracle, which owns Conservative Talk 790 WPNN/103.7 W279CY Pensacola, began operating WBSR via LMA on October 1. WBSR previously simulcast Agage Educational Media’s Christian “Wow 90.9” WOWB Brewton AL via Time Brokerage Agreement.
Ojo Caliente Restoration Society acquires Variety 90.1 KNIZ Gallup NM from Available Media for $7500. The group states it plans to run blocks of Classical, Jazz, and Contemporary Native music on the station.
Awaken Broadcasting sells Christian 690 WZAP Bristol VA/93.3 W227DT Bristol TN to Glen & Rita Harlow’s RGH Communications for $50,000. Glen Harlow is the longtime General Manager of the station.
Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters donates Silent 1240 KNRY/95.9 K240EV Monterey CA to Hanford Youth Services. Mount Wilson will retain all of KNRY’s intellectual property including the call letters and studio equipment. A previous donation of KNRY/K240EV and 630 KIDD/106.7 K294CA Monterey to Balanced Radio Foundation in November 2019 was never consummated.























Let’s not forget Radio Maria Spanish is heard on KCTO and it’s translators in Kansas City. Those aren’t owned by Radio Maria though, rented out apparently.
