Western Michigan University’s 102.1 WMUK Kalamazoo MI will split into two programming feeds on Monday, January 20, 2020.
WMUK will move to a mostly Public News/Talk lineup as “WMUK News” while continuing its overnight Jazz programming. Kalamazoo Public Schools’ Rhythmic CHR 89.9 WKDS Kalamazoo will move to Classical Music as “WMUK Classical“, while also being heard on WMUK-HD2. WMUK currently airs Classical music programming in middays and evenings.
Among the new shows to be added to the WMUK lineup with the programming split are: 1A, Fresh Air, On Point, Radiolab, The Daily, The Takeaway, and This American Life.
A few of those new shows are already heard in some form locally, on Michigan Radio’s Grand Rapids-licensed WVGR–whose primary contour does reach both Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
