As Entercom prepares to begin operating Sports “The Team 980” WTEM Washington DC on Monday, a trio of staffers have exited the station.
Ben Standig of The Athletic reports that Program Director Chris Johnson, 9am-12pm co-host Rick ‘Doc’ Walker, and afternoon co-host Scott Linn have exited.
Chris Johnson was on his second stint as Program Director. He originally programmed the station from 2005-2008 before returning in February 2016. He has also worked as a host and producer at “106.7 The Fan” WJFK-FM and served as a Washington Nationals reporter for MASN.
Walker, a former Tight End for the Cincinnati Bengals and Washington, had been with WTEM since 1998 and has hosted in multiple dayparts at the station. He also serves as a sideline reporter for the Washington Football Team’s game broadcasts.
Linn had been with WTEM since 1997 and most recently co-hosted both the Brian Mitchell Show from 12-3pm and Steve Czaben Show from 3-7pm.
When Entercom takes over WTEM on Monday, it will also lose its FM signal as 95.9 W240DJ Washington remains with Radio One.
Quick announcement: after almost 27 years at WTEM, I am a free agent. I've been beyond lucky to do something that I really love with people I love. I wish the best for my friends going forward. #staysafe
