iHeartMedia will launch the “Black Information Network” on 930 WSFZ/98.1 W251DB Jackson MS as the company has agreed to acquire the stations from Matthew Wesolowski’s SSR Communications with an immediate LMA.
No cash will exchange hands in the deal. Instead, iHeart has agreed to allow SSR to upgrade their Conservative Talk 103.9 WYAB Pocahontas/Jackson by agreeing to accept interference created by WYAB to Rock “103.7 The Fox” WFFX Hattiesburg via FCC rule 73.215 for short-spaced stations.
WYAB previously sought to upgrade from a Class A with 5.4kW/96m to a C3 with 12kW/96m that was dismissed due interference it would create to WFFX. In order to get an upgrade for WYAB, Wesolowski has sought for years for the creation of a new FM Class C4.
SSR purchased WSFZ and then 107.1 W296DD Jackson in August for $84,000. The company has since moved the translator to 98.1.
