Joe D’Ambrosio will exit his role as co-host on Entercom News/Talk 1080 WTIC Hartford’s “Mornings with Ray Dunaway” following Thursday’s show.
D’Ambrosio, who returned to WTIC in June 2018, previously worked at the station from 1991 through 2017. He also spent 26 years as play-by-play voice of University of Connecticut men’s basketball and football until departing in 2018 to return to WTIC after UConn moved their broadcasts to iHeartMedia Sports “ESPN 97.9” WUCS.
D’Ambrosio tweeted this morning that he had negotiated a buyout of his contract and would be leaving the station. The Hartford Courant reports that he had told listeners earlier this year that he wouldn’t be resigning with the station when he contract was up in June 2021, stating “At this radio station at this time, I’m not allowed to let my opinions known. I’ve told management, when my contract is up in June, my time with WTIC will be over.”
SOME Personal professional news. Thursday will be my final day @WTIC1080 . I have negotiated a buyout and New Years Eve will be my last day on the radio station.
