FCC Actions
The FCC has extended the temporary freeze on minor change applications that would effect the deleted licenses of Entertainment Media Trust’s four former AMs in the St. Louis area: 1190 KQQZ Fairview Heights IL, 1430 KZQZ St. Louis, 1490 KFTK East St. Louis IL, and 1510 WQQW Highland IL. The four allocations will be part of the FCC’s auction on July 27 and the freeze will expire on the day following the deadline for long-form applications for winning bidders.
Billy R. Autry’s Gospel “The Change” 1110 WKRA and 92.7 WKRA-FM Holly Springs MS were fined a combined $6000 for failing to file timely license renewals. The stations were supposed to file their license renewals by February 3, 2020 but did not until May 20, 2020.
The FCC has entered into Consent Decree with The Lutheran University Association’s 95.1 WVUR-FM Valparaiso IN and Arkansas Broadcasting Foundation’s 88.3 KABF Little Rock AR over issues with their license renewal applications. The agreement states that both WVUR-FM and KABF are to implement a comprehensive compliance plan to ensure future compliance with its online public inspection file obligations and, one year after entering into the Consent Decree, submit a compliance report to the Audio Division.
The FCC has cancelled the $3000 fine against Blount County Broadcasting Corp.’s 1470 WBCR Alcoa TN and $1500 fine against John Burdette’s 101.5 W268BM Jasper AL for their inability to pay. Both licensees were fined for failing to file timely license renewal applications.
Deletions
Paulino Bernal’s La Radio Cristiana Network has turned in the license of 106.3 KERB-FM Kermit TX. A sale of of KERB-FM in July 2019 to Isaac & Brenda Diaz for $150,000 never closed.
