EXCLUSIVE: iHeartMedia CHR “Hits 106.1” KBKS Seattle morning host Jubal Fresh is suing former employer Hubbbard Radio for wrongful termination.
In a suit filed in June 2020, Fresh alleges that Hubbard sent him a letter in January 2020 stating that the company had grounds to terminate his employment for cause due to his “inappropriate, unprofessional, offensive, and insubordinate conduct” including posts he made on Facebook and YouTube. He was terminated in April 2020 from the syndicated “Brooke & Jubal” show at CHR “Movin 92.5” KQMV after nine years at the station with Fresh stating that the for-cause provision was pretextual and he was really fired to having to avoid paying his salary following the advertising downturn brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fresh claims Hubbard also sent a letter to his lawyers attempting to enforce his non-compete despite the fact the company terminated his contract. He is seeking unknown injunctive and declaratory relief.
Jubal would join iHeartMedia’s KBKS in late July 2020 after a preliminary injunction was granted. He since began syndicating his new “The Jubal Show” morning show in October.
A trial date has been set for June 21, 2021.
