After a day and a half of stunting with alternating songs from Notorious B.I.G. and Dr. Dre, followed by a half hour of a heartbeat, Sierra H Broadcasting relaunched 101.1 KZCE Cordes Lakes/Phoenix as Classic Hip Hop “101.1 The Bounce“.
Launching with 10,000 songs commercial-free, the move brings the format back to the 101.1 frequency. It was one of the first Classic Hip Hop stations in the country when it launched in 2008 until beginning to phase in currents in 2013.
The new format debuted at 4pm this afternoon with DMX “Party Up”, Jay Z/Rhianna/Kanye West “Run This Town”, and 2Pac/Dr. Dre “California Love”.
Original Report 3/31: Sierra H Broadcasting Hip Hop “101.1 The Beat” KZCE Cordes Lakes/Phoenix began stunting this morning.
KZCE is currently alternating songs from Notorious B.I.G. and Dr. Dre with sweepers stating “What the hell is happening at 101.1?” and “Something big is coming” with a new format launch set for 4pm on Thursday, April 1.
The station changed call letters from KNRJ to KZCE in January. Is Program Director John Candelaria preparing to clone his former Classic Hip Hop “The Bounce” brand in Arizona?
