Revised with corrected information:
Kid Kelly has informed affiliates that his “Kid Kelly Daily” syndicated show will cease production on Friday, April 29.
Kelly, who will continue to host his separate 1980s and 1990s focused “Backtraxx USA” weekend shows, began the nightly show in the fall of 2020 following his exit as VP/Pop Programming at SiriusXM. The show had been offered in multiple versions; one with 1980s music, and one with just the voicetracks for Classic Hits and AC. Kelly will continue to offer his CHR targeted “Hot Hits”, Hot AC “Pop Hits” and the weekend Backtrax USA.
Among the stations carrying the show were Cumulus Media’s 94.7 WLS-FM Chicago and Press Communications’ “107.1 The Boss” WWZY Long Branch NJ. WWZY announced last week that Cane Peterson would replace Kelly in evenings.
SVP/Affiliate Relations Danny Ocean recently told affiliates, “Please be informed that this email is being sent to you and your station as formal notice that the Kid Kelly Daily show will cease operations and broadcasting following the delivery of the show on Friday, April 29, 2022. While we are disappointed to have to execute this notice, it is simply unavoidable at this time.”
