American General Media Spanish Rhythmic “Fuego 102.9” 840 KJFA Belen/102.9 K275AO Albuquerque and 102.9 KJFA-FM Pecos/Santa Fe has added ‘Pedro Al Aire’ Escalera to track nights from 7pm to 12am.
Escalera previously spent a decade at Emmis Austin in multiple roles including Production Director and Program Director/morning host of “Latino 102.7” K274AX until 2019. He began his career in Phoenix with stints at 105.9 KHOT, 95.1 KVIB, and 104.7 KZZP and then was Production/Imaging Director for Border Media Austin and morning host at “Digital 92.5” KXXS.
Former Emmis Communications Austin (Waterloo Media) morning show and PD, Pedro Escalera aka Pedro Al Aire, is bringing the heat to American General Medias Albuquerque’s bilingual FUEGO 102.9! Pedro takes over nights, 7pm-Midnight.

Pedro had spent 10 years at Emmis Austin prior to exiting in 2019 after the sale of the cluster to Waterloo. Pedro was part of the launch team of Emmis’ Regional Mex KLZT-FM 107.1 La Z in 2009 serving as imaging / production director. In 2013 he was part of the launch and on-air line up of Latin Rhythmic KLZT-HD2/K274AX -FM Latino 102.7, taking over as PD and Morning host in 2015. Pedro is also a 3-time radio ink program director of the year nominee.
Pedro’s first night on air is July 18th – he will be voice tracking for Fuego 102.9 from his home studio based in Austin, Texas.
Past stops for Pedro include Border Media Partners Austin, as well as KVIB-FM, KZZP-FM, and KHOT-FM Phoenix.
