Alpha Media flipped Hot AC “Mix 106.3” WGER Saginaw MI to 90s/early 2000s based Rock/Alternative “106.3 The Core” at noon today.
The station adds the WRIF Detroit based Dave & Chuck The Freak for mornings becoming the first non-Beasley Media owned affiliate for the show. Mack joins as midday host after previously hosting that shift at Cumulus CHR 102.5 WIOG. ‘Clay Bird’ Pierce remains as PD/afternoon host.
The new format targets Cumulus’ “Z93” WKQZ, which currently ranks third in Saginaw with a 6.3 share in the Spring 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings, while Alpha Media’s three other stations in the market took the other spots in the top 4. WGER placed eighth in the market with a 2.0 share.

106.3 WGER in Saginaw, MI, debuted their new rock station, 106.3 The Core, focusing on rock/alternative music from the ’90s & ’00s. The playlist will include artists like Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam & Soundgarden, Blink 182, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Sublime.
