More Names From The Beasley Media Layoffs As Additional Markets Affected

Beasley Media GroupThe cuts at Beasley Media Group have continued into this week with Detroit and Las Vegas among the markets where people have gone public with their departures.

Detroit

Fawn ‘Nikki Vaughn’ Conley departs middays at Adult R&B “105.9 Kiss-FM” WDMK. Conley previously hosted that daypart under the name ‘Fantasee Blu’ until moving to sister Classic Hip Hop “105.1 The Bounce” WMGC in 2019. She would then move back to WDMK, while keeping the newer on-air persona. Conley has also worked at 92.1 WROU Dayton during her career.

Las Vegas

Steve Hoffman exits as Program Director of Hot AC “102.7 VGS” KVGS and Conservative Talk 720/101.5 KDWN. Hoffman joined Beasley in October 2019 after serving as APD of Entercom Classic Rock “100.3 The Sound” KSWD Los Angeles from 2012 until its sale to EMF in 2017. He has also served as Program Director of Rock 96.7 KCAL-FM San Bernardino from 1998 to 2012, Alternative “103.5 The Edge” KEDG Las Vegas from 1995-97, Hand “B-Rock 99.3” KKBB Bakersfield from 1992-94. Hoffman also served as Music Director at “100.3 Pirate Radio” KQLZ Los Angeles and runs his Steve Hoffman Media consultancy. He can be reached at steve@stevehoffmanmedia.com.

Philadelphia

Paul Jaxon has announced his departure from afternoons at Rock 93.3 WMMR after 18 years with the station. Jaxon previously co-hosted mornings at Alternative 101.7 WFNX Boston and worked at WHJY Providence.

Original Report 10/7: A round of layoffs is ongoing at Beasley Media Group today.

We have confirmed that there have been cuts in multiple markets with significant layoffs in Boston and Tampa. Among the people who have exited the company include:

Boston

Boston Radio Watch reports that Ken West departs as Program Director of “Rock 92.9” WBOS and Classic Hits 105.7 WROR. West joined WROR as APD in 2002 and rose to PD in 2006 adding oversight of WBOS in 2009.

Jonathan Wier exits as morning host at Country 102.5 WKLB. Wier joined WKLB in August 2019 after previously working in Talk formats in Kansas City and Gainesville.

Julie Devereaux departs middays at WROR after 22 years. Devereaux has bounced between middays and afternoons during her tenure, which followed eight years at then AAA 92.9 WBOS and Rock 93.7 WCGY.

Brian ‘Lungboy’ Bell exits the WROR morning show after 27 years. Bell served as a producer for Loren & Wally from 1995 to 2019 and then became a co-host to Bob Bronson and Lauren Beckham Falcone when they took over.

Bobby Blaze is out as afternoon host at Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 96.9” WBQT. Blaze joined WBQT in 2017 after a previous stint at the station and a long run in afternoons at “Jam’n 94.5” WJMN.

Joe Plett exits as cluster Production Director.

Christian Arcand departs as co-host of the “Adam Jones Show” in evenings at “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM. Arcand joined WBZ-FM in 2017 after stints in late nights at WEEI and five years hosting afternoons at “ESPN New Hampshire” WGHM/WGAM Manchester NH.

Mike Lockhart is out as producer of the Toucher & Rich Show and host of WBZ-FM’s Sunday morning fantasy football show.

Central New Jersey

Mike McGinn departs afternoons at AC “Magic 98.3” WMGQ New Brunswick after five years. McGinn previously hosted weekends at CBS CHR “92.3 Amp Radio” WBMP New York.

Philadelphia

Jaime Lynch departs the John Kincaide Show at Sports “97.5 The Fanatic” WPEN-FM. Crossing Broad reports that Lynch was dismissed on Thursday evening ahead of his flight with the remainder of the morning show to cover the Philadelphia Eagles game in Phoenix this weekend. Lynch joined WPEN-FM in 2015 and spent time in mornings and middays after previously working at 94.1 WIP.

Charlie Maxx departs her role at Country 92.5 WXTU as Assistant Program Director, Production Director, and 12-3pm host. Maxx joined WXTU in February 2018 as a weekend host and moved to nights in September 2019 before adding the APD and production roles while moving to middays in September 2020. She previously programmed Beasley AC “Mix 99.5” WJBR-FM Wilmington DE from 2012-2017 and has worked at 95.7 WMWX, 96.5 WPTP, 101.1 WBEB, and 104.5 WLCE in the Philadelphia market.

Tampa

Market stalwart Mason Dixon departs Classic Hits “Q105” WRBQ. Dixon worked at the then Top 40 from 1978 until 1990 where he developed the Morning Zoo format with then PD/co-host Scott Shannon. Dixon would then spend time at 95.7 WMTX, 100.7 WAKS, and 92.5 WYUU before moving with the format back to WRBQ in 2002 with a long stint as Program Director. He moved from mornings to afternoons in 2020.

Country Aircheck reports that Travis Daily departs as cluster Operations Manager and Program Director of Country 99.5 WQYK. Daily joined Beasley Tampa in April 2018 after 17 years at iHeartMedia where he programmed KCCY Colorado Springs for five years before moving to Tampa to launch “US 103.5” WFUS in 2005. He rose to SVP/Programming in 2016 until exiting in October 2017.

Joey Franchize exits nights at Rhythmic CHR “Wild 94.1” WLLD after eight years. Franchize joined WLLD in 2016 after eight years at “Hot 93.7” WZMX Hartford.
