Audacy has announced three promotions to its programming leadership team for the Alternative format under format Vice President Kevin Weatherly.

Christine Malovetz rises to VP/Alternative Programming and Operations while continuing to oversee programming for “Alt 98.7” WDZH Detroit and “Alt 92.3” WINS-HD2 New York. Malovetz joined the company in May 2018 as midday host at then WNYL New York before rising to APD in April 2019 and Regional VP/Programming in September 2020. Prior to joining WNYL, Malovetz served as APD/afternoon host at CHR “Now 96.3” KNOU St. Louis. She previously had worked at Alternatives 95.5 WBRU Providence, “99.9 The Buzz” WBTZ Plattsburgh NY, “Y100” WPLY Philadelphia, and “Q101” WKQX Chicago under the on-air name ‘Electra’.

Ross Mahoney rises to Regional Vice President adding programming for “104.3 The Shark” WSFS Miami while continuing to oversee “Alt 96.5” KRBZ Kansas City, “FM 101.9” WQMP Orlando, and “Alt 102.1” WRXL Richmond. Mahoney had been overseeing “Alt 107.5” KXTE Las Vegas until its sale last fall to Beasley Media. He returned to Audacy in July 2022 after
serving as Program Director of then “X107.5” KXTE from 2016 until the company’s restructuring of the Alternative format in September 2020. He previously spent fifteen years at “103.1 The Buzz” WPBZ West Palm Beach rising from weekend host to APD/MD/afternoon host between 1996 and 2011 and also programmed 98.7 WRMR Wilmington NC.

Brad Steiner, who joined Audacy in March 2022 as Regional Brand Manager and midday host for WNYL will add WRXL to his duties while continuing with WDZH, WSFS, and WINS-HD2. He had joined Audacy from Cumulus New Orleans where he was Program Director of “Alt 92.3” WZRH, Classic Country “106.1 Nash-FM” WRKN, and the Baton Rouge market “Classic Hits 103.3” WRQQ since March 2020. He previously spent two decades at Bahakel Communications’ 96.5 WDOD-FM Chattanooga TN through its phases as AAA and CHR.

Ross Mahoney steps into the Regional Vice President position for 104.3 The Shark (WSFS-FM) in Miami, while continuing to oversee alternative programming at ALT 96.5 (KRBZ-FM) in Kansas City, FM 101.9 (WQMP-FM) in Orlando, and ALT 102.1 (WRXL-FM) in Richmond.

Brad Steiner joins Ross as Regional Brand Manager for ALT 102.1 in Richmond, and maintains the same role at ALT 98.7 in Detroit, 104.3 The Shark in Miami and ALT 92.3 in New York.

These moves recognize the talent and leadership of Christine, Ross and Brad and better align us to our goals for growing our Alternative brands in 2023 and beyond.

Christine fell in love with alternative radio in the 90s and began her programming career at her hometown station, WBRU in Providence. Her radio journey included stops in Philadelphia (Y100), and Chicago (Q101) before landing in New York to join Audacy in 2018. Aside from serving as Regional Vice President of Alternative Programming for multiple markets, Christine is proud of her involvement with Audacy’s “I’m Listening” initiative, using the power of talk to provide mental health resources and support.

Ross started in radio in 1996 at WPBZ “103.1 The Buzz” in West Palm Beach, FL where he served as Music Director, Assistant Program Director and Afternoon Host until December 2011. Programming stops followed at WRMR Modern Rock 98.7 in Wilmington, NC from 2013 to 2016, KXTE X107.5 in Las Vegas from 2016 to 2020. Ross returned to Audacy in July of 2022 as Regional Vice President of Alternative where he currently oversees programming for WQMP-FM in Orlando, KRBZ-FM in Kansas City and WRXL-FM in Richmond.

From the age of 19, Brad has dedicated his life to radio. It took creativity to get in the door though, starting from a college campus live broadcast where he begged to be hired which eventually led to changing his boss’ oil…whatever it took, Brad did it. That drive has spanned over 20 years, multiple formats, dayparts, and programming roles. After 20 years in Chattanooga as Assistant Program Director of WDOD, he left to rebuild WZRH-FM in New Orleans into the regional success it is today, leading it through recovery from Hurricane Ida damage that destroyed the 1,000 foot broadcast tower. Brad joined Audacy’s alternative team as a Regional Brand Manager in 2022.
