Update 4/3: After stunting for most of the weekend with non-stop Cajun/Zydeco artist Wayne Toups, Acadia Broadcasting has brought the “Planet Radio” brand back to the Lafayette market.
Focusing on Classic Alternative from the 1990s and early 2000s, “Planet Radio 106.7” KPCZ-FM Rayne absorbs the programming of Chris Logan’s webcaster. Logan previously served as Music Director and on-air host at the former “Planet Radio” first on 96.5 KFTE until 2010 and then on 105.1 until the station flipped to Active Rock in 2012. KFTE dropped the “Planet” brand when it flipped to Classic Rock in 2017.
Logan is hosting “The Planet Power Hour” in mornings.
Original Report 4/2: Acadia Broadcasting has moved Classic Country “Freedom 106.7” KPCZ-FM Rayne LA to 1450 KSIG/95.1 K236CW Crowley as “Freedom 95.1“.
The move replaces the former Soft AC “Sunny 95.1” format on KSIG. KSIG had featured the Sunny brand and Soft AC format since the launch of its translator in 2018.
With the move of the Classic Country format, KPCZ-FM is currently stunting as “Wayne 106.7” featuring non-stop Cajun/Zydeco artist Wayne Toups.
Both stations rimshot the Lafayette market from the west. KPCZ registered a 0.9 share in the Fall 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings down from the 2.8 it had in Fall 2021 prior to its rebranding from “Pure Country 106.7” to “Freedom” in February 2022. KSIG had a 0.2 share.
