Grant County Broadcasters has flipped “Classic Country 106.7” WNKR Williamstown KY to Oldies “106.7 The Oasis“.
The flip comes as Grant County Broadcasters prepares to sell 105.9 WNKN Middletown OH/Cincinnati to Relevant Radio for $4.5 million. WNKN had previously dropped its Classic Country format for “The Oasis” in July 2022. The brand focuses on music from the 1960s through 80s and positions as “Where The Music Went”.
“Classic Country 106.7” WNKR had a 1.0 share in the July 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings for Cincinnati. WNKN’s “Oasis” programming had registered a 2.1 share there and a 3.2 share in Dayton. The brand competes with Cumulus Media’s 103.5 WGRR and its second ranked 8.9 share.

A 3.0 share in Dayton that was 99.99999 percent over the age of 70. Not a salable format at all. And poorly executed. He got 4,5 million for Middletown. Makes me wonder if he wants to ruin Kentucky and get another big payday by selling to a religious group.
