Audacy has flipped Classic Hits “Max 102.3” WMQX Pittston/Scranton PA to Spanish Tropical “La Mega 102.3“.
WMQX is also simulcasting on 1300 WODS West Hazleton with new WLMZ call letters pending. WODS had been simulcasting News/Talk 103.1 WILK-FM Avoca. The “Mega” brand and format moves from Kevin Fitzgerald’s 94.9 W235DC Dickson City and 95.3 W237DP Mountain Top where they were fed via Audacy’s 101.3 WGGY-HD2 to WMQX under LMAs to Jonathan Alcantara’s JDJ Media. Alcantara now joins Audacy as Program Director of WMQX.
“La Mega 102.3” will air Premiere Networks’ Enrique Santos Show in mornings, James El Bandido in middays, and Alcantara will host afternoons.
Audacy announces the immediate launch of La Mega 102.3 (WLMZ-FM/AM) in Wilkes Barre/Scranton, PA. A Hispanic CHR station, LA Mega 102.3 will feature today’s Spanish, Latin and Caribbean hits with a mix of gold and re-current songs that span generations. The station can be heard on 102.3 FM in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area and 1300 AM in the Hazleton area.

The station launches with the following weekday lineup.
6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. ET: “The Enrique Santos Show”
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET: James the Bandit
3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. ET: Jonathan AlcantaraAdditional lineup announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
The station will be led by Brand Manager Jonathan Alcantara. Alcantara started his radio career in New England working on Power 102.9, Impacto 1490AM and La Mega de Boston. In 2020, he came to Northeast PA and launched La Mega 95. Despite its modest beginnings and limited coverage, the station was a success and continued to grow for nearly three years.
