In a move that was never publicly announced, iHeartMedia AAA “Cities 97.1” KTCZ-FM Minneapolis shuffled its morning and afternoon shows in late October.
APD/MD/afternoon host Paul Fletcher has moved to mornings to join Naima Dage for “Fletcher & Naima Mornings”. Fletcher has been with KTCZ since 2012 mostly in afternoons with a brief stint filling-in mornings in late 2020/early 2021. He also served as Program Director of defunct Alternative “Alt 93.3” W227BF/KQQL-HD2. He began his career in the market at “93.7 The Edge” KEGE and has also worked at KAZR Des Moines and KQKQ Omaha under the on-air name Polychronopolis. Naima returned to the station in May 2022 after previously hosting nights from 2012 to 2015. In between, the UK native was based in the United Arab Emirates co-hosting mornings at “Radio 1 UAE” with current “Q102” WIOQ Philadelphia evening host Sam ‘Nugget’ Dababneh.
The launch of Fletcher & Naima in mornings moves Brian Oake to afternoons. Oake hosted afternoons at the station from 2001 to 2012 before moving to mornings until 2016. He then moved to mornings at Minnesota Public Radio AAA “89.3 The Current” KCMP until exiting in August 2019 following a Facebook rant after he and his daughter were kicked out of a concert. He then returned to KTCZ in May 2021 as morning host. Oake also has hosted mornings at Alternative “Rev 105” KREV from 1994-1997 and successor “Zone 105” KZNR from 1997 to 2001.
