After stunting with R&B focused Christmas music, Indian River State College has flipped the former Classical 91.1 WQCP Fort Pierce FL to Adult R&B “Q91.1“.
Currently running in a soft-launched mode, the new format fills the vacancy created by the move of “104.5 The Flame” WFLM White City to 104.7 in Palm Beach Shores to serve the West Palm Beach market to its south, where it has begun testing.
The 11am hour on Thursday, December 28 featured:
- Force M.D.’s – Tender Love
- Donell Jones – Where I Wanna Be
- Tank – When We
- Jay-Z – I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)

Original Report 12/4: Indian River State College has dropped its Classical format on 91.1 WQCP Fort Pierce FL and is currently stunting with “Soulful Sounds of the Season” with R&B heavy Christmas music while promoting that “The New 91.1 is coming soon.”
A move to Adult R&B would potentially fill the hole that is about to be created by “104.5 The Flame” WFLM White City’s pending move to 104.7 in Palm Beach Shores to serve the West Palm Beach market to its south. Prior to its acquisition by Indian River State College in 2021, 91.1 was Variety WJFP with a mix of Gospel, R&B, and Hip Hop.
The Classical programming that had been heard on WQCP has moved to 89.9 WQCS-HD2 Fort Pierce and 88.5 WQJS Clewiston replacing their Jazz service, which has been discontinued. On its website, WQJS notes, “Thank you for your support of Jazz on IRSC Public Media. Due to programming realignment, the full-time Jazz is taking a pause on our stations. But we are working on expanded digital coverage to bring Jazz back to one of our HD channels as soon as we can.”
