Following the retirement of Jim Murphy in October after 32 years in the timeslot and last week’s abrupt resignations of co-hosts Katie Schurk and Nick Vitrano, Midwest Communications CHR 101.1 WIXX Green Bay WI has tabbed Chris Carson as morning host.
Carson was introduced today on WIXX as host of “Carson In The Morning” from 5-9am. It marks a return to the company for him as he previously served as APD/Imaging Director at “Great Country 101.9” WDEZ Wausau WI from 2001 to 2010. He also worked at Cumulus Media Country 99.5 WPKR Appleton WI from 2012 to 2017. He has been working in real estate since then.
Carson told WFRV-TV, “I’m looking forward to just being a successful part of everybody’s morning. I want to be able to just slide in and as folks are getting their morning going, having their coffee, getting their kids off to school and ready to go to work, I’m hoping that I can just be a part of their day and we can help send them off.”
WIXX is still searching for a co-host(s) to join Carson on the new show
Midwest Communications, Inc. is pleased to announce the new host of the WIXX morning show. His name is Chris Carson. “Carson” is an 18-year radio vet who was born and raised in NE Wisconsin. His most recent radio positions were at 101.9 WDEZ in Wausau and 99.5 Nash FM in Oshkosh.
Chris will be taking over for Murphy in the Morning, who concluded in his 32-year run on November 28th.
Carson stated, “I’ve been listening to WIXX and the Murphy show since I was 10 years old. To think that I will now host the show, is a dream come true. I have so much respect for WIXX and Midwest Communications and look forward to carrying on the winning tradition that is expected at 101 WIXX.”WIXX Brand Manager, Corey Carter made the hire, “We’re confident Chris will be able to represent us well as the new era in WIXX morning radio begins. Chris is a good fit for our culture and the creative nature of our team”.
And there’s more news. Long time Murphy show co-hosts Katie Schurk and Nick Vitrano, have decided to move on and leave the show as well. The bond the three created was solid and they will be missed. This means we are also looking to hire a co-host to join Carson.
