Cumulus Media flipped AC “Soft Rock 94.1” WMEZ Pensacola FL to Rhythmic CHR “Hot 94.1” at noon today.
Positioning as “Pensacola’s Hottest Music”, the new format creates a flanker for Cumulus’ stations in Pensacola and the adjacent Mobile AL market where there is significant coverage and listenership overlap. The station flanks Adult R&B “Magic 106.1” WRRX in the Pensacola market and the Mobile trio of Hip Hop 92.9 WBLX, CHR 97.5 WABD, and Adult R&B 104.1 WDLT with the new format going after iHeartMedia Hip Hop “107.3 The Beat” WRGV locally.
WMEZ registered a 2.6 share in the Spring 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings dropping from a 4.4 in Fall 2022.

It should be noted that EZ 94.1 has been on the air playing Easy Listening since 1972 – by 1989 shifting to soft AC / Lite Rock. It is sad to see an end of Easy/AC music on 94.1 FM for over 52 years!
