Cumulus Media has flipped Classic Country “106.1 Nash Icon” WRKN Picayune MS/New Orleans back to Sports “106.1 The Ticket“.
The station is running Premiere Networks’ Fox Sports Radio along with Westwood One’s Rich Eisen Show from 11am-2pm. The move brings both the “Ticket” brand and Fox Sports Radio back to the market. WRKN previously was “106.1 The Ticket” WMTI from 2012 until flipping to Alternative in 2015. Fox Sports Radio was most recently heard in the market on iHeartMedia’s “Fox Sports 1280” WODT until its flip to the Black Information Network in June 2020.
WRKN joins Coastal Broadcasting of Larose’s “ESPN 100.3” KLRZ and Audacy’s “1350/92.9 The Bet” WWWL in the New Orleans all-Sports competition.
Pat Galloway, Regional Vice President and Market Manager, Cumulus New Orleans, said: “The love and passion of New Orleans’ sports fans is amazing. It starts in the playgrounds and ends up in the Superdome and Smoothie King Center, and now we can talk about it all the time on the all-new 106.1 The Ticket.”
