The combination of Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation and combination of faulty transmitter sites and loss of leases has now taken all four of JAM Media Solutions’ properties in North Carolina’s Outer Banks off the air.
Country “Big 94.5” WCMS Hatteras was the first to go off-the-air in March as the station’s tower required structural and equipment repairs and funds are not currently available due to the bankruptcy proceedings. On April 30, Hot AC “Beach 104” WCXL Kill Devil Hills lost access to its tower site and moved its programming to 92.3 WZPR Nags Head replacing Rock “Z92.3“. An LMA to Davis Media took effect on May 1, but ended with the company walking away from its intended purchase of JAM’s stations in North Carolina and Muscatine IA one month later.
AAA “99.1 The Sound” WVOD ceased operations on July 9 due to “technical issues”. And 92.3 followed on July 31, although no STA has yet to be filed with the FCC.
“Beach 104” morning host Jody O’Donnell shared that he has exited the station after 25 years writing, “I’ll keep this short and sweet. Thanks for a great 25 years at Beach104. You all have made my time at Beach104 most memorable. We never know what the future holds. But I’m sure we’ll meet up again one way or another. Thanks again.”
As of this writing the formats for WCMS, WCXL, and WVOD continue to stream online.
