After returning to all-Christmas this year after skipping it in 2023, iHeartMedia has relaunched Rhythmic AC “Movin 107.7” WMOV-FM Norfolk VA with a more contemporary presentation as “Party 107.7“.
Positioning as “Feel Good Hit Music”, the station is touting core artists as including Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna, Eminem, Ariana Grande and Shaboozey and launched at midnight with The Weeknd “The Hills”, Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em ft. Sammiie “Kiss Me Thru The Phone”, Teddy Swims “Lose Control”, Ashanti “Foolish”, and Beyonce “Irreplaceable”.
As revealed on Monday, WMOV-FM will begin carrying Premiere Networks’ “The Fred Show” on Monday, January 6 becoming the third affiliate of the “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC-FM Chicago based morning show along with “G105” WDCG Raleigh NC. One of the Fred Show co-hosts, ‘Showbiz Shelly’ is based in Norfolk, and also hosts middays on WMOV-FM as Michelle Love. The remainder of the lineup will feature WZFT Baltimore’s (and former WNVZ Norfolk PD) Mike Klein in afternoons and “The V Bros” at night.
The new format keeps WMOV-FM positioned between Audacy Rhythmic CHR “Z104” WNVZ and Hot AC “94.9 The Point” WPTE.
iHeartMedia New England and Virginia Areas Senior Vice President of Programming David Miller commented, “With the launch of Party 107.7, we are flipping the switch on traditional radio in Norfolk, offering our listeners an exciting mix of music and entertainment that keeps the party alive all day long.”

I’ve never heard of a “Gold Based CHR”. How far back does it go???
Most of the Gold based CHRs that have moved in that direction the past few years like WKFS Cincinnati, WZFT Baltimore, and WBBM-FM Chicago are all 2000s-now usually with a Rhythmic lean in the gold but Mainstream CHR with currents. But WMOV-FM is even more Gold based than those and I may need to reclassify as Rhythmic Hot AC.
The 11am hour today played sixteen songs. 2 currents, 3 recurrents, and 11 golds (3 from 2010s, 7 from 2000s, 1 from 1999). The number of currents seems consistent each hour.
