Marty Whitney will exit mornings at Local Media San Diego Alternative “91X” XETRA-FM Tijuana/San Diego at the end of the week.
Whitney began his current stint at 91X in October 2019 first teamed with Danielle Stuht until her departure in October 2023. He previously served as Music Director and night host at the station from 2003-06. Whitney has also held roles as midday host at iHeartMedia’s “Alt 98.7” KYSR Los Angeles and night host at Rock 105.3 KIOZ San Diego, Imaging Director for KLLC San Francisco, a producer for Apple Music’s Beats 1, and Program Director at 100.9 KRZQ Reno and morning host at its later resurrection on 104.1.
Whitney tells us, “I’m ready to serve a music loving community and entertain an audience for a great media force who want great ratings on-air, a previous ALT station of the year PD, multi-format Music Director, major market imaging talent with sigma dadventure IG stories NOW. The last 91X show for now in my second tour of the station, first on 2003-2006, will be Jan 31st. 5:30-10A. I am forever grateful to be a tiny story in the long rebel history on 91X.
